Hon'ble Governor of Odisha
Lok Bhavan, Bhubaneswar
Nestled in the heart of Bhubaneswar, Lok Bhavan stands as the distinguished residence of the Governor of Odisha, where the state’s governance, heritage, and hospitality seamlessly converge. It hosts official meetings, ceremonies, and events that shape the course of Odisha’s progress.
Construction of Lok Bhavan commenced on 1st January 1958 under the visionary guidance of architect Julius Vaz. Spanning 88 acres, the estate combines refined elegance with expansive grounds, serving both the needs of administration and the grandeur of state occasions.
Within the premises, Kalinga Atithi Nivas, an elegant guest facility, showcases Odisha’s rich artistic traditions through classical Odia architecture, thoughtfully complemented by modern amenities. The estate also features Atal Van, an ecological park dedicated to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, developed with a strong focus on sustainability and national heritage. A carefully maintained Deer Park adds a serene, living presence, symbolising harmony between governance and nature. Flowing fountains, verdant lawns, blooming flower beds, and diverse avian species collectively create an atmosphere of quiet elegance and enduring tranquility.
Sri Y. N. Sukthankar, the 11th Governor of Odisha, was the first to reside here, establishing a tradition that continues to this day. Graceful in presence and timeless in purpose, the estate is more than a residence—it stands as a living emblem of Odisha’s heritage, governance, and enduring spirit.
